FAQ
What Should I Know Before My Appointment?
- This is a safe space, free from judgement. All bodies are welcome on my table. This is about YOU. Please let me know if I can do anything during your session to make you more comfortable. Your healing is what I am here for.
- Sweating, falling asleep, and even emotional release can happen on the massage table. Please never feel like you need to apologize for your body’s natural functions.
- Your body hair will never bother me. Please don’t feel like you need to shave any part of you to be on my table. Whatever makes you comfortable is what’s important!
- Try not to consume caffeine at least 3 hours before your appointment. It is important to keep your body as relaxed as possible, and caffeine can lead to jitters, anxiety, or tense muscles!
- WATER!! Stay hydrated before, and especially after your session. Massages are dehydrating by nature. Working on muscle gets fluid pumping out of the soft tissue and into your circulatory system, where it heads toward your kidneys. That’s why many people need to use the restroom after a massage. Then there’s the issue of metabolic waste, which is produced by muscles in the course of everyday function. When there is tension in your muscles, it constricts circulation in those areas, inhibiting the body’s ability to flush out this waste. Massage releases the circulatory pathways, and allows the metabolic waste into the system. Provide your kidneys with the water they need to effectively eliminate the newly liberated waste!
- My office is currently located in my home in Lakewood. There is always parking available in front of our house on the street. I do have a cat, but he is never allowed in the massage space, and he is locked in our bedroom while clients are here. I have several clients with cat allergies who are not affected while they are here. I pride myself in a clean home and office space.
What is Ashiatsu?
In the Japenese language “Ashi” translates to foot and “Atsu” into pressure. Ashiatsu DeepFeet Bar Therapy is a barefoot massage technique in which the therapist delivers deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing their feet, and body weight. Working with gravity instead of against it, Ashiatsu therapists are able to provide an effective therapeutic massage without causing pain or discomfort to themselves, or the receiving client. Cream or oil is applied to the clients body making this deep therapeutic massage fluid and relaxing. Parallel bars are used above the massage table for balance, support, and client safety. If you are in need of deep tissue work, but don’t enjoy the discomfort that comes with pointy elbows and thumbs, then Ashiatsu DeepFeet Bar Therapy is the treatment for you!
If I Feel Pain, Should I let the Therapist Know? Or Trust That It's Okay?
Your healing is why we are here. It is not beneficial to be put into more pain in order to feel better. Deep tissue can feel like intense pressure sometimes, but you should be able to breathe through it. Never allow for pressure that truly makes you say “ouch” during a massage. Always speak up and let me know when it is too much, and I will always check in if I feel that you may be uncomfortable.
What Are The Benefits Of Massage Therapy?
Stress relief, pain/tension relief, insomnia relief, digestion improvement, skin toning, increased range of motion, headache/migraine relief, relaxation, self-care, treatment of anxiety/depression related symptoms
What Kind of Oil Do You Use?
I make and use homemade massage oil. Ingredients are Jojoba oil, Grapeseed oil, Arnica oil (Olive Oil, Arnica flowers), and Candelilla Wax.
Should I Keep My Undergarments On While Getting Massaged?
You should do whatever makes you the most comfortable during our session. Private areas always remain draped, and genitals are NEVER massaged. The only parts of your body to be uncovered will be where I am currently massaging; Limbs, back/neck/head, and parts of your gluteal region (with your permission) are all that will be exposed. The best way to receive a massage is completely nude, while remaining respectfully draped by linens. However, if you prefer to keep on an undergarment, the massage can always be adjusted to fit your needs.
Do You Offer Gift Certificates Or Packages?
Yes I do! They are both available for purchase through my booking site on Vagaro.
What Are The Benefits Of Hot Stone Massage?
Hot stones add an extra element of relaxation to any massage! Additionally, hot stones are great for reducing inflammation and easing tense muscles, allowing the therapist to work deeper on painful areas. Hot stones help with pain relief and increased range of motion from conditions such as Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis. The use of alternating cold and hot stones can create vasodilation and vasoconstriction. Which increases blood circulation; bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, and eliminating waste that may have accumulated.
What Are The Benefits Of CBD Oil In Massage?
One of many incredible systems that exists within our bodies is the endocannabinoid system. There’s a high concentration of cannabinoid receptors in the skin, and when CBD is applied topically, it activates the endocannabinoid system through those receptors. CBD binds to the receptors in your epidermal and dermal skin, a process that results in alleviation of pain and inflammation. When added to a massage it can be incredibly beneficial for relief of muscle soreness from working out, general muscle tension, and added relaxation.
